What Is Delta-8 THC?
Delta-8 THC is one of the many cannabinoids found in cannabis. It occurs naturally in small amounts, so concentrated commercial products are typically made by chemically converting hemp-derived CBD.
Does Delta-8 Cause a High?
Yes. Delta-8 THC is intoxicating. Descriptions such as “mild” or “less intense” should not be taken to mean it is harmless or non-impairing.
How Is It Made?
Commercial production commonly involves chemical conversion rather than simply extracting delta-8 from the plant. Depending on the manufacturing and purification process, unwanted byproducts or residual chemicals may remain.
Delta-8 products have not been evaluated or approved by the FDA for safe use. Reported adverse effects include anxiety, dizziness, vomiting, and confusion. Keep intoxicating products away from children and pets.
Can Delta-8 Affect a Drug Test?
Yes. Delta-8 use can produce a positive THC urine screening result. It should not be considered a way to avoid detection on a drug test.
When evaluating any cannabinoid product, review its ingredients and current, batch-specific laboratory report. Laboratory results describe what was tested and the test’s detection limits; they do not guarantee a particular drug-test outcome.
